Why does the sea have to be in every poem?

Bourbon washes away
everything better than
the tide I want to say
to the full moon staring
at me from the bottom
of my glass staring
straight into my soul
Do I even have a soul?
Yes says that last piece
of ice skating until it’s time
to be more than the sum
of all its atoms which are
connected and elevated
in places deeper and richer
than the sea or the last drop
of Bourbon warming my mouth
like it’s the last ray of sunshine
