The Amputated Shadow

You are never alone, there is always the Other. Part werewolf, part conjoined twin, it occupies your skin so tightly you could not prise it away, however hard you tried. You did try once, when you first noticed it, tore yourself like wet tissue in front of your parents’ mirror. You must have been about 8, the sound of the television slopping through floorboards, tears and blood spotting the carpet. It’s been years since you saw it, but you know it’s still there, though you can no longer remember which one’s you.
